Did you know? - Asynchronous Jobs

Importing and processing multiple timetables can be a lengthy process depending on the number you are uploading. Whilst these are being updated, it isn’t possible to perform other tasks in the Ticketer Portal in that browser until the operation has completed, (the user is still free to open a new browser window/tab of course).

However, with the Asynchronous Jobs feature enabled, time consuming tasks such as this can be processed in the background, allowing the user to access other features in the Ticketer Portal whilst that import is being processed.

What is it….?

Asynchronous Jobs allows time consuming tasks such as importing and applying timetables to be processed in the background, freeing the user – and their browser window – to access other functions within the Ticketer Portal.

The user is kept informed on progress via a list of all tasks and their statuses, which automatically updates.

The tasks that can currently be run asynchronously include importing timetables, applying timetables and the bulk editing and saving of timetable periods. More will be added in due course.

Asynchronous processing can be enabled in the Portal by simply contacting the Ticketer Support team to enable this for you. No other configurations are needed.

In Summary

  • A simple configuration in the Ticketer Portal.
  • When enabled, certain tasks will be executed in the background allowing users to continue working in the Portal.
  • The user can monitor progress via a new ‘task status’ table.
  • An audit of all executed tasks can be reviewed at any time.

If you would like to have this enabled, or need any assistance with this feature, please contact our friendly Support team support@ticketer.co.uk who are always on hand to help.
