Did you know? - Driver Messaging

Our Ticketer ETMs support a driver messaging feature which enables operators and drivers to keep in touch through text messages and alerts, when it is safe to do so.

What is it.?

With the driver messaging feature, operators can simply send important announcements and service updates directly to specific drivers, services or even vehicles.

When the ETM receives a new message, the message icon on the bottom of the ETM will turn red and indicate the number of messages pending. Furthermore, if a message is tagged as important, the ETM will alarm briefly and the message and envelope icon will turn red.

Messages can be accessed directly from the icon or via the options screen. To highlight the importance of a message, they can be colour coded, so important messages will appear in red. Unread messages will appear in bold.

When safe to do so, drivers can reply or compose new messages, and for ease, canned response options can be set up via the Ticketer Portal. When sending, messages can be sent to multiple or individual email addresses, such as head office or customer service for lost property enquires.

All too often a message will be started, but will then be abandoned due to a passenger boarding etc. Now, there is no need to start again from scratch as there is a handy ‘Save Draft’ option available where the current composed message can be saved and continued at a later date.

And there’s more…when composing a message, the back office can set the date of when the message needs to be sent out, which is useful if there are planned road works or closures.

In Summary…

  • Important announcements, service updates, and commendation messages can be sent to drivers safely and efficiently.
  • Drivers can compose messages using a list of canned message topics saving time when on a schedule or if the message is urgent.
  • Messages can be sent to multiple or individual email addresses.
  • ‘Save Draft’ option available so message can be continued when convenient.
  • Colour coding and sounds will alert drivers to the urgency of a message.
