East Lothian Goes Contactless

27 July 2018

Ticketer has enabled Prentice of Haddington to be the first to offer contactless payments to passengers in East Lothian. The first to use the Ticketer contactless ETMs will be the route from Haddington to Fort Kinnaird retail park.

Prentice is a multi-award winning operator that always aims to make life easier for customers.  The new Ticketer ETMs not only offer contactless payments, but m-Tickets, Apple Pay and Android Pay options.

Other routes will follow in the next few weeks as all of Prentice’s existing ETMs are upgraded.

The operator’s new Marketing Manager, Tam the Ram*, has been helping test the system and will be out and about helping to promote contactless payments in the coming weeks.

John Clarfelt, Managing Director of Ticketer, comments:  “We are delighted and proud to help Prentice to be the first to offer customers in the area the option to pay for their travel in the most convenient way.  All our ETMs offer the exact same functions regardless of the size of the operator because the most important thing is to get passengers on board.”

Ross Prentice, Managing Director of Prentice of Haddington, comments:  “We are always looking to innovate and create a better experience for our passengers. As contactless payments become ever more common in daily life it’s important that we keep pace with the retail sector. Ticketer have made contactless possible for an operator of our size at a reasonable cost and we look forward to continuing our excellent relation with John and his team for many years to come. “

* The Goat is the emblem of Haddington and features all over the town and on top of the Market Cross.  This year Haddington is celebrating 700 years since the signing of a charter by King Robert the Bruce confirming Haddington’s rights as a Royal Burgh. A major day of celebration takes place on 25th August and the organisers have asked if Prentice’s Tam the Ram would make an appearance.
