Ticketer has won the contract to supply Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) with ITSO smart ticketing machines.
TfGM is helping smaller bus operators be part of the smart ticketing future by ensuring they have the right on-board kit and back office support.
Smart ticketing on buses in Greater Manchester is expected to be introduced for passengers before the end of the year.
TfGM’s Smart Ticketing Programme manager Helen Humble commented: “This contract is a key part of our commitment to make travel easier for everyone in Greater Manchester.
“We have worked closely with Bus operators and Greater Manchester Travelcards Ltd (GMTL) so smart ticketing will be available across as many GM buses as possible, regardless of the size of an operator’s fleet.
“Our vision remains to introduce a multimodal, multi-operator smart ticketing system which works seamlessly across Greater Manchester.”
John Clarfelt, Managing Director of Ticketer, comments: “We were delighted to win TfGM’s contract to supply ticketing machines following a Tender process. This is an extremely prestigious contract for us and we are really excited to be working with Transport for Greater Manchester, bus operators and GMTL to bring the benefits of a single smart-card system to passengers on all modes of transport across the region.”
