On the opening day of Euro Bus Expo 2014, Ticketer is proud to announce that it is to supply Cardiff Bus with Electronic Ticket Machines (ETMs) across the 210 vehicle fleet.
The deal was finalised last week and the units will be delivered early next year.
Cardiff Bus selected Ticketer to supply the very latest in ETM technology in order to update their current system and to accommodate future plans, such as the use of EMV cards and m-tickets.
Cynthia Ogbonna, Managing Director for Cardiff Bus, was particularly impressed with the way the Ticketer system is designed. She explains: “The Ticketer modular design allows us to configure the way components are laid out on the bus, which makes it much better for drivers and for passengers. The ability of the system to be always ‘on-line’ will also improve staff communication and service management.”
The company will be installing ETMs on every vehicle, and has also ordered four hand-held units to reduce boarding times at busy locations, such as the three Park and Ride sites and the Baycar service linking the city centre with Cardiff Bay.
Cynthia Ogbonna says that other operators influenced their decision to choose Ticketer: “We spoke to other operators who told us that Ticketer are open to ideas and are the right company to be in partnership with.”
