ON-BUS CONNECTIVITY
4G connectivity for 4 extra devices including the Ticketer ETM and other on-vehicle hardware. Rest assured it is also 5G ready.
Ticketer’s ‘Connected Bus’ concept is a platform for innovation, providing an ecosystem of connectivity. At the centre of this sits a vehicle communications gateway: the Ticketer Smart Gateway.
It provides a ‘plug and play’ approach to connect on-bus IT infrastructure to allow operators to reduce the amount of kit on board, eliminates the need for multiple SIM cards and provides opportunities to reduce energy consumption.
By using a single platform with a shared communications channel for all onboard systems, it offers a far richer data set in one comprehensive view to allow operators to better manage their fleets.
“By using a single platform with a shared communications channel for all onboard systems, many other benefits can be gained. Principally, the data that each system generates can be shared amongst the wider ecosystem and that then drives real value.”

Improved location accuracy with GNSS, providing enhanced passenger information with lower latency. Benefits will also be seen across Ticketer’s existing features: Traffic Light Priority (TLP), Schedule Adherence and Road Restriction Alerts.
Potential to remove on-vehicle hardware by connecting all on-bus IT infrastructure, avoiding complex integration projects to bring on new suppliers. The ITxPT certified ‘plug and play’ architecture provides a consistent framework to allow operators take advantage of systems talking to each other to provide more insightful data feeds.
The Smart Gateway reads the Vehicle ID information electronically to provide 100% accuracy which is critical to efficient bus operations.
Provides real-time visibility of status and issues with connected on-vehicle equipment to help fleet management. Faults are easily located, and it provides a single place to coordinate repairs.
Essential for fleet management and onboard safety. Automatic Passenger Counting provides real time insights on passenger numbers per vehicle, collected via counting sensors in the bus door. Distinguishes between children, adults and bikes for improved capacity management.
Eliminates the need for duplicate communications support for different hardware and SIM consolidation. Reduces the associated administration of managing multiple sims and provides cost savings.
Easily log vehicle CAN FMS for future data and fleet management monitoring.
